The mission of the Northwest Arkansas Martin Luther King Jr. Planning Committee is to continue to advance and promote the dream, life, and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. which emphasizes love and action.
Our purpose is to promote awareness, education, and unity throughout the Northwest Arkansas community.
We solicit and encourage all Northwest Arkansas residents and communities to participate and contribute to the celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Life and Legacy.
The Northwest Arkansas Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Planning Committee is accepting nominations for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Service Awards. The nomination deadline is September 15, 2010. Awards will be presented at the 15th Annual Recommitment Banquet on Monday, January 17, 2011 at the Fayetteville Town Center.

ERNESTINE WHITE-GIBSON INDIVIDUAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
In recognition of an individual who has given to his/her community through service, leadership and commitment.
LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
In recognition of an individual who has attained merit while enhancing the advancement of his/her community.
CORPORATION OF THE YEAR In recognition of a corporation that has donated time, effort and financial assistance to the advancement of the community
REV. J.A. HAWKINS POSTHUMOUS AWARD
In recognition of a person whose life and service had a positive impact on the community.
RODNEY MOMON YOUTH AWARD
In recognition of a youth or young adult who has exemplified strong character, leadership and servitude. This individual will be awarded a scholarship in accordance with the MLK scholarship procedures.
NOMINATION PROCEDURES
A complete nomination package must include a short biography, photo and a support statement as to why the nominee should be considered for the MLK Service Award.

Feel free to nominate one person/organization per category. However, no one person/organization can be nominated for more than one category. Nominees must reside or be located in the Northwest Arkansas Area.
